ABOUT US:
We are a busy 2-site independent practice in Oxford providing first opinion and referral care to cats within Oxford and the local area. Working with us offers a unique opportunity to be immersed in all things cat with a great team of experts in the field.
We know vets work at their best when there is good case communication, team support, and a sensible workflow, so we make this happen. 20-minute consultations are standard with regular gaps in the day for admin and lab reporting. Lunch breaks and finish times are respected.
The 1st Opinion and Referral teams collaborate closely, enabling 1st Opinion clinicians to make internal referrals and gain valuable insights from the Referral team’s expertise through ward rounds, case discussions, and internal CPD opportunities. THE ROLE:
- 30 -40 hours per week (10 hour days – paid lunch break).
- One in four duty weekends (10 hours of consulting spread over 2 days).
- No out-of-hours on-call.
- Duty rota for late checks for stable inpatients, 1 check per week plus your working weekend. Checks are shared with the duty RVN at weekends. For your weekday check, this is normally telephone back up for the duty RVN. You will only be required to attend onsite if the duty RVN is sick or they need a second pair of hands.
- £40,000 to £60,000 + commensurate with experience/hours.
- Sponsorship is available for the right candidate.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:
- At least 2-3 years + UK RCVS registration and in practice experience.
- A proven track record in routine surgeries associated with first opinion GP work.
- Sole charge experience is essential.
- You will be required to work at both our Marston and Botley sites.
- Dental procedure competence is necessary. Dental X-ray and local blocks can be taught.
- Previous cat-only qualifications or specific experience is not required.
- More advanced soft tissue surgery experience would be an advantage but not essential.
- Supportive and friendly team mentality is essential.
- Driving license and access to a car.
- Good English language skills – written and spoken.
